Draw three boxes, not twelve
A restaurant sales funnel gets silly when it is copied from a software company. You do not need lead scores. You need a guest to find the shop, place an order they are happy they placed, and come back without starting the search over. Three boxes. If you cannot point at the tool that serves each box, the funnel is a poster.
Find is usually Google, a map pack, a social bio, or a friend's text. First order is your site, your phone, or someone else's app. Repeat is a saved order, a reward, a message, or a habit of driving by. Write the real one, not the ideal one.
Look at ten recent regulars and walk them backward through the boxes. The pattern is your funnel. A template from another industry will not beat that list.
Search to the first honest order
The listing needs the right name, hours, and an order link that opens your menu. A guest who taps and lands on a PDF, or on a marketplace grid, did not finish the first box the way you wanted. The restaurant sales funnel leaks at the exact moment they were ready.
The first order has to be completable on a phone, with modifiers and a subtotal, and it has to print. A beautiful path that produces a bad ticket trains the kitchen to hate the funnel. Fix the ticket before you buy traffic.
Ask for the account because the second box depends on it. Loyalty and reorder are the bridge. They are not a fourth box. They are why box three is possible.

Repeat is a message or a habit
Some guests repeat because Friday is Friday. Do not annoy them. Make the usual order fast. Some guests repeat because you reminded them on a quiet week. That reminder is email or SMS on Growth Plus, or a push if they installed the iOS app on Growth. It is also a note on the box if you are not on those plans yet.
The restaurant sales funnel dies when the reminder sends them to a marketplace. Put your URL in the message. The point of the repeat box is that you keep the relationship you paid to start.
Segment only when you have something different to say. A lunch list and a Friday list can hear different notes. Everyone hearing a generic blast is how the list goes numb. Growth Plus includes segmentation. Use it after you have two real reasons to write, not before.
- Listing and order link for the first box.
- A menu that prints a cookable ticket.
- An account and a saved order.
- A message channel you actually have on your plan.
- Your URL inside that message.
Where owners waste the funnel
Buying ads into a broken menu. Measuring follows instead of reorders. Writing a twelve-stage diagram and never putting the link on the door. A restaurant sales funnel is allowed to be small if every stage works tonight.
Treating all first orders as equal. A marketplace stranger and a neighbor who searched your name are not the same next step. Thank both. Invite the neighbor onto the account more directly.
Promising a drip campaign you cannot send. If you are on Standard, your repeat tools are the product itself: reorder, loyalty, the link, the staff sentence. Say that. Add campaigns when you add the plan.
Review the three boxes monthly
Did people who searched reach your menu? Did first orders print clean? Did any of those guests order again on your site? You can answer with the admin and with your own eyes. How it works if box two does not exist yet because the site is not live.
Change one weak box. A funnel diagram that changes every week is not a system. The restaurant sales funnel you want is dull: find, order, return.
When those are dull, then consider a better message. Not a geotarget, not a new logo. A note to people who already ate, about food you can still cook.
